- Handshake In telecommunications, a handshake is an automated negotiation process between two participants. Through the exchange of information, it establishes the rules and protocols to use when setting up a communication link. In telecare, this would include establishing which protocol to use to transmit alarm information.
- Hazard A hazard is anything in the home (or any other environment) that can cause harm to someone or something. See risk.
- Heartbeat A regular signal from a device to indicate normal operation/a working connection between it and a device management platform or ARC.
